I have clear remembrances of summer solstices from the past few years.  Long sunny days in which we fully embraced the change of seasons.  Unfortunately, this year had clouds and a bit of drear, but it was a weekend in which we were gettin' her done around the house and garden.  We finished up some planting, transitioned the baby chicks to the coop, and were able to chase our first fireflies.  So far the chickies are doing well, and big/little interactions have been civil.  But, the babes still come to the front door at night, and we have to carry them back and sneak them into the coop.  Hopefully, they get the picture in a few days.  Now we'll start to prepare for time spent with extended family, for which I am very excited!

Sounds like the perfect way to spend the Solstice - happy long sunny days!

We got two new chicks (all feathered out & nearly as big as our banty cross hens) the 2nd of June.. the two new didn't get along with the two old all that well for a couple of days, but now all is peaceful in chickenland.
I think it's hilarious at this age how they are ALL FEET!!
