two hundred and thirty eight

A week or so ago my daughter started to complain that the brace she sleeps in at night for scoliosis was getting too tight and uncomfortable.  Being a conscientious mother, I called and made an appointment with the Orthodics people to have it checked out.  But, my husband, being a total crackpot, sneakily took the brace down to his friend's workshop and adjusted it himself (to avoid the 2 hour trip).  I was totally horrified, kept the appointment, and made my husband come along to explain what he had done.
And then I walked into the exam room to find the doctor saying, 'Well, this looks about right...'

I spent what was left of the day helping to sharpen all our pencils.
And eating crow.
