Simple Things Sunday---Six More Months

In the fall of last year, we found out our daughter, not yet 8, had scoliosis.  Quite severely.  We saw several different doctors and heard the same thing, she will need surgery.  It is just a matter of how many.  A matter of how long we can wait.  For Christmas, she got a large, plastic, pink brace to sleep in.  And we hoped and prayed that would be enough to get her through the next few years.

We went for her first check up last week and were so relieved to find that the brace is doing its job.  Her curve has even corrected slightly.  We are cautiously optimistic, and will have to have screenings every 6 months.  And just play the waiting game.  But for now we are simply grateful to have more time.

oh that brace can work miracles! My friend's daughter has scoliosis since she was 1 year old and was in a cast for 5 years - one new once every 30 days - she is now in a brace and holding her own! Best wishes to you all

Gorgeous photo! So glad the brace is helping. If it gives you any comfort, my friends daughter--she's about 14--just had surgery for scoliosis and it went incredibly well. Good luck!
