We spent a lot of time in the garden this weekend, catching up on the weeding and checking for the fruits of our labors. Then I spent a while in the kitchen making use of them!
We found (and devoured) our first tomato last week, and had our first batch of garden pepper poppers (stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped with bacon) the week before. We've also been feasting on the broccoli, and tonight I roasted the first of the eggplant. This is the best time, when the finding is fun and the prepping a treat...before we are swimming in them. Of course, it's a blessing to have an abundance, but why does it always seem to be the things you'd rather not have in excess? I love those pepper poppers, but we've got ghost peppers out the whazoo!
One of those was enough, thanks!
We found many pleasant surprises in our garden, beyond the fruits and veggies.
Preying mantas is always a fun find.
And while we were checking out this cool moth, we were caught by surprise with this mother and baby Waxwing--
right above us!
Then I found myself stalking even some of our more frequently seen visitors.
Our yard isn't terribly big, but it sure is full of life. I just have to take the time to see it.
Hope you had a great weekend!
