We went chasing the late summer sun last night.
And a few chickens.

It's All Fun and Games....

Okay, isn't.

I'll have to admit to struggling a bit here through this final stretch of summer.  The heat and humidity seem to be sucking the life out of me, and trying to process produce from the garden, back to school prep, house guests this week, the normal chaos that is life with 5 kids, and trying to force myself into enjoying every moment of what's left of the summer is taking its toll.

I've been more of a grouch than I'd like to admit, but there have also been many great moments in between the chaos and busyness.

Trikes in the house, and refreshing rain....

Looking for meteors.

Updating last year's portraits with a chicken photobomb...

and letting loose a little.

10 on 10 :: August

Okay, this isn't one day, but a mash up of two for this day in the life project.  To be honest, the days are simply running together anyway, even though I feel them running through my fingers.  Summer is on its way out, and I am grasping at the simpleness of the days...even as they drive me a bit bonkers.

 // Waterlilies
// Farmers market side trip
// Tank
// Swim
// Causing a ruckus
// Aborting to ice cream
// Big sisters
// Rain
// Lightening

The calendar is starting to fill up.  We're buying clothes and making lists and adjusting bedtimes.
Sigh.  The sun is setting on anther summer.

Let the Games Begin

I don't know what game they were playing in the pool, but it was definitely something they made up themselves, with arbitrary rules and nonsensical goals.  It looks like they were enjoying it.  When we weren't mucking around in the pool, we were riveted to the Olympic Games.  At least, I was.  I'm a bit of an Olympic junkie.

And the baby, he decided he likee blowing bubbles, jumping into the pool and going underwater, with daddy.  Stinky little son of a gun.

Not Pictured

Sometimes, photography, or life, is about what we don't see.  A lot of my pictures at home crop out the messes and clutter.  It makes the picture nice, and it focuses on what I want to remember...the facial expressions--smiles, laughter, delight--not how hard it was to keep the house clean with all those kids at home.  It is no different out and about.  You see my daughter enjoying dancing and music with a friend of ours, not the baby sprinting figure eights through the crowd, running over random blankets or jumping into stranger's chairs--or worse, getting into their food!  But, perhaps, looking back, that will seem funny....not stressful and exhausting as it does now.

Here's to focusing on the happiness.
Have a great weekend!
